The Maple Mothership is the world’s first and only 100% Canadian Hip hop radio invasion. The show, which airs weekly on CKDU 88.1FM, supports all aspects of Canadian Hip hop Culture while exposing it’s various elements. We achieve this by producing a show that broadcasts a diverse playlist (ex. French and Native Canadian artists); up-to-date news coverage (ex. weather; album reviews; event announcements and coverage); and features (ex. interviews; reviews and specials). The Maple Mothership is comprised of few central components but draws from a pool of collective knowledge and resources. These central components are Ewan Mill (The JE), Ryan Barker (DJ Beef), Shawn Ryan (Uncle Fester), Geoff Stevenson (Parker Lewis), Andrew Kilgore (Fresh Kils), the Alpha Flight Crew (Ghettosocks, Process and Mr.Bix), Dexter D, Barnel Noulah and Gregory Richardson (THG). The Maple Mothership has presently expanded well beyond just the realms of Halifax and now has a tightly knit family fabric that covers the entire map of Canada (especially within Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver). In recent years the Maple Mothership has joined forces with Under Pressure (Mtl, PQ), North America’s largest and longest running Graffiti Expo, in order to further cultivate and fortify our nation’s urban industry in all realms and aspects.

Canadian Hip hop Music has become recognized worldwide as a style of Hip hop that is distinct from all others. The Maple Mothership also believes the Canadian Hip hop Culture deserves to be properly represented now that it has evolved into an established lifestyle and culture. Therefore it is the duty of the Maple Mothership and it’s Canuck Cosmonauts to explore and celebrate the realms of Canadian Hip hop while reporting their findings to the public.

The canuck cosmonauts do not rest when they are not invading peoples radio’s. While off air the Maple Mothership ensemble delves into a diversity of pursuits that collectively aims at strengthening; diversifying; connecting and expanding the Canadian Hip hop culture on both a national and regional level. The extracurricular pursuits of the cosmonauts include being active facilitators (ex. introducing people, providing contacts and assisting with distribution); open-minded advisors; public educators (in regards to Canadian Hiphop culture); industry scouts; and industry personalities (ie. Event Hosts, Producers, DJs, MCs, B-boys/B-girls, Graffiti Writers, etc).
